What is a full-range speaker? What is the difference between a full-range speaker and a mid-bass speaker?

July 23, 2025

A full-range speaker is a type of speaker. Although it is called "full-range," it is not truly full-range, so you have to accept that its high frequencies are not high enough and its low frequencies are not deep enough. According to the classification of speakers by frequency range, besides full-range speakers, there are also tweeters, mid-range speakers, woofers, and subwoofers. So, what’s the difference between a full-range speaker and a mid-bass speaker? Let’s take a closer look.

1. What is a Full-Range Speaker?         👉Click here to get the same full-range speaker

A full-range speaker, also known as a wide-range speaker, originally referred to speakers that could cover a frequency range of 200 to 10,000Hz. In recent years, full-range speakers have been able to cover a frequency range from 50 to 25,000Hz. Some speakers can even extend their low frequencies down to 30Hz. However, the unfortunate reality is that most full-range speakers on the market, while labeled as "full-range," actually concentrate most of their frequency response in the midrange. Their performance in the deep bass and treble ranges is somewhat weak, which results in a sound that is rather flat and lacks strong stereophonic depth.

2. The Difference Between Full-Range Speakers and Mid-Bass Speakers

(1) Different Meanings:

·Full-Range Speaker: Refers to a speaker that can cover a frequency range of 200-10,000Hz.

·Mid-Bass Speaker: A type of speaker that acts as a transducer, converting electronic signals into sound.

(2) Different Characteristics:

·Full-Range Speaker: The mainstream design of high-sensitivity drivers tends to focus on high sensitivity, which requires a larger size. At the same time, it must achieve a high high-frequency upper limit on the 0-axis, which requires strict control over the equivalent vibrating mass.

·Mid-Bass Speaker: When current passes through the coil, it generates an electromagnetic field, and the direction of the magnetic field follows the right-hand rule. For example, if the speaker plays the note C, with a frequency of 256Hz, it vibrates 256 times per second, outputting 256Hz alternating current, causing the speaker to produce the C note frequency.

3. Different Uses:

·Full-Range Speaker: Capable of reproducing vocals with high accuracy, producing clear, powerful, and rhythmic sound.

·Mid-Bass Speaker: Not used alone, but in combination with tweeters and mid-range speakers to form a sound system. It produces sound with vibration, lower frequencies that create a resonating shock effect for the ears. It is often used in large venues like KTVs, bars, and stages.
